Community Steering Committee Approach to Gun Violence & Gangs

The goal of this planning grant project is to pinpoint effective violence intervention program(s) within a comprehensive strategic plan aimed at combating gun violence in the Tri-Cities Community. A key aspect of the strategic planning effort will involve establishing performance indicators to assess the efficacy of the identified intervention(s). The success of the strategic planning will be gauged by levels of community involvement, detailed reports (such as root cause analysis and community needs assessment), recognition of evidence-based community-driven violence intervention models, and the development of a comprehensive action plan to customize and integrate these models to suit the requirements of the Tri-Cities community. Community engagement metrics will encompass the extent of community engagement and attendance at planning group meetings, participation in focus group sessions, and completion of periodic surveys.
